Free Money Friday - Verizon Small Business Recovery Grant
The Local Initiatives Support Corporation( LISC) is giving a helping hand to business owners, through Verizon Wireless. The two groups are offering up to $10,000 in grant money, for business owners facing financial pressure due to COVID-19. The funding is especially for entrepreneurs of color, women-owned businesses, and other enterprises. Historically these populations are under-served communities and do not often have access to disposable capital. The funds can be used to pay rent, utilities, debts, payroll, and other operational costs.
Last month the organizations teamed up to donate more than $5 million in the Small Business Recovery Fund. Now, Verizon has added another $2.5 million, to help some 750 entrepreneurs nationwide. The wireless network wants to gift the dollars to provide resources to keep the businesses, employees, and communities afloat during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The application window will open on May 14th. Business owners can register to receive emails and updates on the grant website here.
